"One of my favorite apps is Good Reader. I can use it to pull up worksheets and write my answers in and email them to my teacher. I don’t use any paper, so we are saving the forests! I have also learned to use Pages and Keynote in ICT (Information and Communication Technology). My ICT teacher taught us how to use different fonts, headings, tables and graphs. We use the Mathletics and SpellBoard apps every day. SpellBoard allows me to record the spelling word and the definition in my own voice and in Mathletics, different 上海快三work is assigned to different students so I can learn at my own level.”

Elementary School Curriculum
Stamford American International School's Elementary Years learning program is built around your child as an individual with unique abilities, experiences and interests. An inquiry-based, integrated Elementary curriculum makes learning relevant and meaningful to each child, no matter what her or his background. Our teachers recognize the special potential of each child and adopt an inclusive approach that accommodates different learning styles and needs.
We have students from more than 70 nationalities on our campuses, and all our students can enjoy an unbiased approach to learning that encourages cross-cultural communication and understanding.
Programs of Study at Stamford American Elementary School
The Stamford American Elementary School curriculum is based on the IB Primary Years Program (PYP) integrated with American Education Reaches Out (AERO) standards. Our learning framework focuses on:
- A language arts program that arms students with the tools to speak and write fluently, and to process information effectively through reading and listening.
- Competency with numbers through a core mathematics program that can be supplemented with Math Enrichment classes.
- An emphasis on foreign language with daily Mandarin and Spanish lessons.
- Cultural and social development through art, music, dance and physical education programs.
- Critical thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving methods.
- Inspiring confidence and building presentation skills.
Our Elementary School curriculum also includes instruction in Foreign Language, Social Studies, Science, Art, Music, Dance, Physical Education and Library Skills with a focus on integrated technology. Classes follow Units of Inquiry which guide their studies over a 5-6 week period with a central theme that ties all of their subjects together.
The emphasis on foreign languages continues through our Elementary School with Mandarin and Spanish taught daily by specialists at an ever more challenging spoken and written level. Our language classes are divided into 7 levels (phase 1 to phase 7) to ensure that each child is challenged at an appropriate level.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
ICT is an integral part of school life at Stamford American Elementary, and students are encouraged to explore technology and apply it to their learning journey. Students from Kindergarten 2 to Grade 5 are given increasingly challenging problems to tackle, and the 1-to-1 iPad Program gives them access to additional resources. Our aim is to prepare your child in becoming a knowledgeable and responsible citizen of the digital world.
Recognizing Growth and Achievement
Students at Stamford American Elementary are comprehensively assessed across academic knowledge, practical skills, learning ability and attitude, project portfolios and social relationships. Our focus is on helping your child develop into a well-rounded individual, and we keep you involved in that journey through quarterly reports and regular parent–teacher conferences.
Student achievement is benchmarked to American standards each Fall and Spring in an external assessment called Measures of Academic Progress (MAP). Read the Elementary School Curriculum Guide for in-depth information and class timetables.
